What can you finance?

Reference maximum for eligible students living away from parents and studying in London under the pre-January 2027 system. Depends on income, course and circumstances. This is an interest-bearing loan, not a grant.
Paid into your account
Maintenance Loans are normally paid at the start of each term. Your funding approval sets out your payment schedule.
Help with tuition fees
You can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan, paid to your institution. Coverage depends on eligibility, fees and applicable limits.
Repay based on your income
On Plan 5 in the UK, you repay 9% of income above £25,000 a year. For example, earning £30,000 a year before tax means about £37.50 a month. Interest applies. Other plans and countries have different terms.
Already receiving Universal Credit?
Some people can continue receiving it while studying. Full-time students qualify only in certain circumstances, such as being responsible for a child. Maintenance loan entitlement can reduce your payment even if you do not apply for the loan. Check your circumstances before enrolling.
